TIME MANAGEMENT TRAINING PROVIDERS
Each of the sites listed below provide training in time management, leadership, and general management techniques. These are great resources if you want to build on a specific skill, or learn about a topic in more depth.
LEADERSHIP TRAINING PROVIDERS
Leadership and management are related but separate skills. The goal of management is primarily to plan, organize and implement processes to get things done. Leadership is the act of inspiring others to perform at a higher level. Truly effective managers have strong leadership skills, and leadership training can be a key component of your personal development plan. Here are some organizations that provide leadership training or coaching services:
COMMUNICATION AND PERSONALITY ASSESSMENT TOOLS
As with time management, there are many tools and instruments to assess communication style and personality. Each of the sites listed below describes a type of tool and will allow you to find practitioners who can deliver it to your staff and help you interpret the results. In most cases you can take a sample assessment online and see a summary of the results. I recommend that you try each one and see what fits the needs of your team and your organization.
Most Human Resources managers are familiar with these tools, and may be able to tell you which ones have been used in the organization in the past. They may even be certified in the use of a specific assessment, so start with an email or conversation with your Human Resources Department for guidance on this process.
PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT AND EVALUATION TOOLS
It is highly unlikely that you will be asked to create your own performance evaluation forms, or to make up new evaluation processes as a new manager. However, it can be helpful to understand what other organizations do, since some of their tools and templates can give you ideas for keeping track of your own employee’s performance.
