If you could not fail… at work

What would you do if you knew you could not fail? It’s the great life question from Robert H. Schuller, but today it’s time to ask it about your job. Is your fear of getting fired keeping you from taking risks and being a true leader?  Sure it’s easier to obey the letter of your job description and keep your head down. Especially in the middle of a recession, who wants to stand up and become a target? And while the short term consequences of being part of the herd may be positive, the lost opportunity cost is enormous. If you want to be a leader, you have to stand out in front. People who don’t act have no accomplishments. If you doubt this, go sit down with the most successful person you know and ask them how they got there. Better yet go back and read Jonathan Livingston Seagull.
