Leadership is the act of inspiring others to perform at a higher level. As with time management, there are many tools and instruments to assess communication style and personality. Each of the sites listed below describes a type of tool and will allow you to find practitioners who can deliver it to your staff and help you interpret the results. In most cases you can take a sample assessment online and see a summary of the results. I recommend that you try each one and see what fits the needs of your team and your organization.

Most Human Resources managers are familiar with these tools, and may be able to tell you which ones have been used in the organization in the past. They may even be certified in the use of a specific assessment, so start with an email or conversation with your Human Resources Department for guidance on this process.

They offer a wide variety of articles and information on employee relations and legal issues related to human resource management. Their tools and templates directory is a member’s only area, but many parts of the site are accessible to anyone.

The Microsoft Office Suite™ is a commonly used set of business applications, which you may currently use. Their website has a ton of downloadable tools and templates including review forms.

Human Resources Village
This site provides articles, templates, and other resources for people dealing with employee relations and other Human Resources topics.
Salary and total compensation information can vary from market to market. This site provides information on compensation packages for a wide variety of industries and job titles.
